Belarusian Great Patriotic War Museum to partake in exhibition in Moscow

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War will take part in the international exhibition We Fought Together against Nazism which will open in the art gallery of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War at Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow on 28 April, Director of the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War Nikolai Skobelev said during the online press conference, BelTA has learned.

“The exhibition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory will feature various exhibits (weapons, military uniform, awards, etc.), archive documents, works of art (paintings, drawings and sculptures). We will also demonstrate a small diorama featuring the beginning of the war. It is made by our fine art restorer Gerasimovich,” Nikolai Skobelev said.

Besides, the exhibition of photos Surrender of Germany. May 1945 prepared jointly with the German-Russian Museum opened in the museum on 11 April. Apart from the materials from the museum funds, visitors of the exhibition will see inscriptions made by soldiers on the walls of Reichstag. These are the inscriptions made by Belarusian natives. The exhibition will stay open till 31 May.

“In the year of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory and the Year of Youth we implement a joint nationwide patriotic project The Great Victory of My Grandfather together with the Belarusian public association of veterans and the BRSM Youth Union, the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda (Belarus). The results of the project will be announced on 29 April,” the director of the museum added.

The museum and the Information Ministry will prepare a scientific and educational guide We Cherish and Remember! There are also plans to publish the book For the sake of Life on Earth. It is a collection of poems and songs of the war and victory.

The Education Committee of the Minsk City Hall helps the museum organize an exhibition of children’s drawings World without War. The works of children and youth from all districts of Minsk can be seen in hall No. 3 of the museum Road of War.

Apart from that, district administrations of Minsk, the BRSM Youth Union will hold patriotic lessons of courage for young people, show documentaries and archive movies about the war and organize other events as part of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Victory Day.
