Zapashny brothers named Star Ambassadors of 2nd European Games

MOSCOW, 25 July (BelTA) – People’s Artists of Russia, well-known circus animal tamers brothers Askold and Edgard Zapashny were named the Star Ambassadors of the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019. The ceremony to present the certificates was held at the business and cultural center of the Belarusian embassy in Russia in Moscow on 25 July, BelTA has learned.

“It is a great honor. We will do our best to perform the tasks assigned to us,” Askold Zapashny said.

The artist expressed confidence that Belarus will do well in the organization of the European Games. “We love Belarus, visit it very often and have a lot of friends there,” he said.

The schedule of events related to the information support of the forthcoming games will be compiled in the near future. “I hope we will visit Belarus even more often,” said Askold Zapashny.

Deputy Director of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC) Anatoly Kotov told the media that star ambassadors have a responsible mission which is to tell the people of Europe about the forthcoming games in Belarus. On 24 July, the first Star Ambassador certificate was presented to four-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva. Anatoly Kotov said that it is highly possible that Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica will be named the next Star Ambassador of the 2nd European Games in Belarus.

The 2nd European Games will take place in Minsk on 21-30 June 2019. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 15 sports.
