Opinion: The European Games will give Minsk long-lasting infrastructure benefits

MINSK, 27 December (BelTA) - Thanks to the Second European Games, the Minsk transport infrastructure will get a boost, Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Association of Experts and Surveyors in Transport Yuri Vazhnik said in an interview with the press service of the Directorate of the Second European Games, BelTA informs.

In his opinion, Minsk residents should understand that in June 2019 they will have to deal with certain constraints but the city will reap the benefits in the form of the more advanced transport infrastructure. “In anticipation of the European Games Minsk will be working to advance its transport system and to upgrade the bus and trolleybus fleets. All transport vehicles will be equipped with air conditioning. The incident monitoring system will be installed and will remain in place after the completion of the games. It is also worth mentioning the overall system of dedicated lanes for public transport. This will speed up the movement of passengers around the city,” Yuri Vazhnik noted.

The European Games will take place in Minsk on 21-30 June 2019.
