Minsk European Games 2019 calendar drawn up

MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) – The calendar of the competitions at the Second European Games in Minsk is ready, EOC Chief Expert for Sport Asimakis Asimakopoulos announced during the working meeting of the fund of the Directorate of the Second European Games 2019 on 9 January, BelTA has learned.

The calendar will now be coordinated with many international structures and television. “The Second European Games calendar is more than 90% ready. There can be changes, but they all will be minor,” said EOC Chief Expert

The meeting in Minsk also discussed cooperation in the organization of the Games. According to Asimakis Asimakopoulos, Belarus has vast experience in hosting big sport competitions, holds good positions in the preparations for world's sport forums, and the EOC is fully on the same page with the Directorate on the progress in the preparations for the European Games in 2019.

Belarus was chosen to host the Second European Games in 2019 at the 45th session of the EOC General Assembly in Minsk in October 2016. The Second European Games in Minsk will be taking place on 21-30 June 2019. The Games will feature 15 sports: badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, wrestling(freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, women’s wrestling), cycling (track cycling and road bicycle racing), gymnastics (artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatics, aerobics, and trampoline), rowing (kayak and canoe competitions), judo, karate, track and field athletics, sambo, archery, shooting (including clay target shooting), table tennis, and beach football. 189 medals events will be held in 23 sport disciplines.
