European Games volunteers have experience of big international events

MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – Volunteers of the 2nd European Games are gaining experience at the biggest international events, head of the volunteer services department of the Directorate of the 2nd European Games 2019 Nadezhda Anisovets told BelTA.

“Volunteers of the 2nd European Games helped in the organization of every big event in Minsk over the past year. More than 3,000 volunteers gained valuable experience at different sport tournaments. Today our databank has more than 12,000 applications. The selection process is almost complete. On 1 November a special website was launched to provide volunteers with the information on their participation in different events ahead of the 2nd European Games,” Nadezhda Anisovets said.

The phase of active training will start in December. Volunteers will be offered a rich cultural program. The 2nd European Games outfit for volunteers, presented not long ago, received a lot of positive feedback.

According to Nadezhda Anisovets, 77% of those eager to become volunteers are women, 23% are men. Alexander is the most common name among male volunteers. Anastasia is the most frequent mane among female volunteers. The oldest volunteer is 75 years old. “The biggest number of foreign volunteers is from Russia. After the 2018 FIFA World Cup, we received applications from groups of young people who have serious experience in helping organize major sporting events. Of course, such candidates will be considered in the first place,” said Nadezhda Anisovets.

The Belarusian capital is expected to welcome more than 4,000 athletes, about 2,000 coaches and support personnel for the 2nd European Games 2019. They will represent official delegations from 50 European National Olympic Committees. About 650 international and 410 national judges will officiate at the competitions. Minsk will also welcome over 1,000 representatives of foreign media, 100 presidents, general secretaries of European sports federations and sports ministers of European countries, more than 250 representatives and employees of the EOC headquarters, presidents and general secretaries of European NOCs, 200 guests of European NOCs.
