EOC expects Minsk European Games organizational model to become benchmark

EOC expects Minsk European Games organizational model to become benchmark

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – The organizational model of the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019 must become a benchmark, EOC senior sports consultant Makis Asimakopoulos said at a seminar for Belarusian sports officials on 3 May, BelTA informs.

“The European Olympic Committees expects the European Games in Minsk to offer a clear model which will guarantee the stability and successful future of the European Games and will also help any country host such a forum,” Makis Asimakopoulos stressed. “Today is a very important day from the standpoint of preparations for the European Games in Minsk. The specialists that are present here at the National Olympic Committee are professionals as the Games will take place at the sports facilities that have already been prepared rather than in the headquarters of the directorate. We need to fine-tune the provision of services now. Today the main challenge is the integration of all services engaged in the preparations. This is the key to success of the 2nd European Games,” the expert added.

Managers of the 2nd European Games Directorate are scheduled to hold presentations at Belarus’ National Olympic Committee on the sports facilities and the national federations administering the sports to be featured at the Games in 2019.

The competitions are expected to bring together about 4,000 athletes, 2,000 coaches and other representatives of official delegations from 50 European Olympic committees. In addition, Belarus will welcome about 650 international and 410 national sports judges, about 1,000 foreign journalists, heads of European sports federations and agencies, representatives of the EOC headquarters, heads of European NOCs, and high-rankling officials from a number of countries.
