Domracheva, Brendel present Minsk European Games in Berlin

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Four-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva and three-time Olympic champion Sebastian Brendel spoke with the German media about the 2nd European Games in Berlin, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Germany.

The presentation of the games which are to kick off on 21 June was held in a format of a talk show. Covering the show was also Germany’s leading TV sports channel Sport1.

Star Ambassador of the 2nd European Games Darya Domracheva and Belarus’ Ambassador to Germany Deni Sidorenko told the media about the forthcoming sports event in Belarus.

German sprint canoeist Sebastian Brendel, who won the C-1 1000m gold at the 1st European Games in Baku, noted that Team Germany would do its best to perform well at the regatta course in Zaslavl near Minsk.

Taking part in the meeting was also Vice President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation Uschi Schmitz, head of the German-Belarusian parliamentary group of the Bundestag Mark Hauptmann, German political, business and sports representatives.

Participants and guests of the event praised Belarus’ readiness for the European Games, including its sports infrastructure, tourist and business attractiveness of the country. 

The 2nd European Games will feature competitions in 15 sports. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 200 medal events in 15 sports. Eight of them will be held as qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
