MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Four-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva and the mascot of the 2nd European Games Lesik the Fox played ice hockey at a costume ball for friends and partners of the Games, BelTA has learned.

The event took place at Palova Arena near the Palace of Sports in Minsk on 14 January. Among the invitees were volunteers of the 2nd European Games, prominent athletes, artists and representatives of show business. The event was attended by Belarus’ 2018 Junior Eurovision entry Daniel Yastremski, Olympic canoe sprint champion Alexander Bogdanovich and many others.

Darya Domracheva told BelTA that she is good at skating. “The New Year's fairy tale continues. Many would like the holidays to go on. Inviting guests to the carnival, we wanted to extend this fun, convey the festive mood that will remain with all the participants through the summer and the start of the 2nd European Games,” Darya said.

Star Ambassadors of the 2nd European Games and the participants of the costume ball saw a bright performance of a professional figure skater and took part in a number of contests prepared by the organizers. Darya Domracheva and Lesik the Fox played hockey. The fox acted as the goalkeeper while the prominent athlete managed to score several goals. The festival on Palova Arena lasted for more than two hours.

The costume ball was held under the auspices of the sport public association Revival which, together with the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee, staged a charity Christmas event for students of the Zhdanovichi children’s home and Radoshkovichi orphanage on the New Year’s Eve.
