Year of Native Land plan of action for 2018-2020 approved in Belarus

MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – The Year of Native Land national plan of action for 2018-2020 has been approved by Resolution No.547 of the Belarusian government of 18 July 2018 which was officially posted on the national legal Internet portal on 26 July, BelTA has learned.

The document envisages more than 120 activities. Among them is the involvement of potentially fertile unused agricultural lands into agricultural use through remediation, construction or reconstruction of melioration systems. It also provides for the steps to improve architectural planning in rural settlements, to develop recreation zones near water bodies, to tidy up burial sites, to remove garbage (solid waste) from forests. The document provides for theme-based events, contests, forums, scientific seminars and conferences.

The program also envisages measures to promote self-employment in rural areas, including entrepreneurship, handicrafts, agro-ecotourism, and farming. The measures include consulting assistance, entrepreneurship training, financial support (subsidies), and the development of handicrafts and entrepreneurship centers.

The executive coordinators of the plan of action shall present progress reports to the Economy Ministry before 1 March each year. The Economy Ministry shall present the summarized information to the Council of Ministers before 1 April each year.
