Working group set up to integrate Belarusian nuclear power plant into power grid

MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – A working group has been established to work out proposals on integrating the Belarusian nuclear power plant into the national power grid, BelTA has learned.

The working group will be led by Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Kilin. The group will analyze the proposals the State Standardization Committee has submitted on ways to integrate the Belarusian nuclear power plant into the power grid taking into account peculiarities of the nuclear power plant’s operation and working hours of industrial enterprises, civil engineering industry, processing industry, and agriculture.

The specialists will have to consider the possibility of allowing real sector economy organizations to participate in regulating the electric load schedule. Electricity consumers themselves may be able to take technical measures and other measures taking into account foreign experience. The specialists will also consider prospects of increased electricity consumption by all branches of the economy and households.

The working group will have to produce its conclusion as well as technical and economic proposals by 10 November 2017. All kinds of officials and specialists of central government agencies, state-run organizations, research institutions, test labs, and so on may be invited to contribute to the group’s efforts if need be. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko will oversee the group’s work.
