“I congratulate everyone on the event. We would like to see our countries to become closer economically, and this is what today's event is aimed for,” President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Christoph Leitl said when speaking at the opening ceremony. According to him, last year the trade between Belarus and Austria fell a bit but the parties are committed to not only restore it but also to surpass the previous level.

Christoph Leitl also stressed that in 2015 Austria invested $70 million in the economy of Belarus.

The event has been organized by the BCCI, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus in accordance with the instructions of Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov. The Belarusian delegation is led by First Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Matyushevsky.

Interests of the European business community at the forum are represented by Austrian companies and also businessmen from Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Latvia, Hungary, and Slovakia. The forum is attended by representatives of the European Commission and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Eurochambres, and also the heads of the chambers of Western and Central Europe.

During the business matchmaking event representatives of the European and Belarusian business will have the opportunity to hold negotiations in accordance with the stated areas of interest (banking, industry, information and telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, engineering and construction, energy, transportation and logistics, consulting, etc.).

More than 120 people are expected to attend the business events.
