Tank containers for liquid cargo now made in Belarusian Osipovichi

OSIPOVICHI, 20 October (BelTA) – The Osipovichi transport machinery factory (OZTM) has started batch producing tank containers of the E11-254 variety. They are designed to safely transport or temporarily store liquid safe and hazardous cargoes, BelTA learned from the company’s Director Denis Babina on 20 October.

The tank containers are certified for compliance with technical regulations of the Customs Union and the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. The first few tank containers will be sold to Belarusian Railways. Agreements on selling more to Russia and Poland have been made. Work is in progress to start making tank containers for transporting liquid chlorine, liquefied petroleum gas, and aggressive chemical liquids. Some of the containers will be made from stainless steel to transport dimethyl ether.

The carriage factory is about to finish preparations for making long-base flatcars for carrying large-tonnage containers along railways with the 1,520mm gauge. The flatcars may be used in the future to transport cargoes as part of the Belt and Road initiative.

The company intends to make some 100 units of the main product by the end of the year and increase the output up to 500 flatcars and 400 tank containers in 2018 in order to secure profitable operation. There are plans to make up to 5,300 units of the main product in 2019. “With this in mind, we actively work with partners in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. Work is in progress to sell the products to the European Union and other countries,” said the director.

In his words, the Osipovichi-made wagons and flatcars are competitive on the market. They boast high quality and reliable operation since their manufacturing is fully automated. The company also offers static test services, can repair tank containers and dry freight containers. The company also offers thermal and machining services, plasma cutting, welding, and other services.

ZAO Osipovichi Transport Machinery Factory (OZTM) was established by the Mogilev branch of Belarusian Railways on 28 December 2016. The company employs about 200 people.
