MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) - More than 1,000 Lithuanian trucks that are remaining in Belarus have been placed at special designated areas, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
“The Lithuanian trucks remaining in Belarus, whose departure to Lithuania has been prohibited since 10 November until Lithuania reopens the border with Belarus, have been placed at secure sites: 429 trucks at Berestovitsa, 166 at Benyakoni, 348 at Kotlovka, 102 at Kamenny Log. The drivers of these 1,045 trucks, who have complied with the official demand from the customs authorities to deliver the vehicles to specially equipped and guarded parking lots, are free to leave the territory of Belarus,” the State Customs Committee said.

Regarding another 220-plus Lithuanian trucks, 140 of which are on roadsides near border crossing points, the State Customs Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are working to locate the drivers and ensure the trucks are delivered to the designated sites.
Drivers for Lithuanian carriers who deliberately fail to comply with the obligation issued by the Belarusian customs to proceed to the designated areas within the established deadlines will face administrative penalties at the maximum rate (Article 24.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus - up to 100 base amounts).
