MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) - In 2024, mutual trade between Belarus and Russia’s Leningrad Oblast exceeded $1 billion for the first time in several years, doubling compared to 2020, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said during the 13th meeting of the joint commission on cooperation between Belarus and Leningrad Oblast attended by Governor Alexander Drozdenko, BelTA has learned.

"Leningrad Oblast ranks 7th among Russian regions in terms of trade with Belarus. The results of Q1 2025 also indicate continued growth," Nikolai Snopkov stressed.

He emphasized that there is still room for further expansion and balance in mutual trade.

"In this regard, I consider it timely to hold a joint commission meeting to develop mutually beneficial cooperation directions, identify additional key areas, and lay the foundation for updated bilateral trade, economic, scientific, technical, and humanitarian cooperation programs for 2026-2027," Nikolai Snopkov concluded.
