Slovakia invests in construction of livestock farms in Belarus’ Vitebsk Oblast

VITEBSK, 12 May (BelTA) – New livestock farms will be built in Lepel District and Dokshitsy District of Vitebsk Oblast using investments from Slovakia, BelTA learned from Konstantin Cherny, deputy chairman of the economy committee of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee.

“Slovaks are set to invest in the construction of farms, a cattle breeding farm in Lepel District and a sheep breeding farm in Dokshitsy District. This branch of livestock breeding used to be popular in Vitebsk Oblast some time ago. The farms will be a kind of pilot projects for fine-tuning the mechanisms of cooperation with foreign investors in the construction of larger livestock and dairy farms that the region also needs,” Konstantin Cherny said.

A joint waste processing enterprise has already been set up by Slovaks in Orekhovsk, Orsha District. The work on the project lasted for about a year and a half. The investors found a partner, MONOLIT Vitebsk Plant of Electronic Components. The partners developed a cooperation concept and built the enterprise in a small town. This is a good cooperation option, Konstantin Cherny emphasized.

Vitebsk is hosting the 6th international economic forum Innovations. Investment. Prospects. Representatives of the cities and towns of Vitebsk Oblast have gathered in the regional capital to present their investment projects at different venues of the forum. “The projects are different. Most of them have to do with production and are aimed at increasing the local budgets. Some 30 projects have been elaborated in detail. Tentatively speaking, their details can be discussed already today. We are ready for a substantive dialogue on each of the projects. Another 50 or 60 projects are plans, ideas and prospects. Their implementation will require additional time,” Konstantin Cherny remarked.
