International economic forum kicks off in Vitebsk

International economic forum Innovations. Investment. Prospects in Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 11 May (BelTA) – The 6th international economic forum Innovations. Investment. Prospects opened in Vitebsk on 11 May, BelTA learned from the organizers.

The two-day forum will bring together developed and developing economies, authorities and business, heads of large companies and representatives of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship. The Vitebsk Oblast Palace of Sports will host a display of expositions of towns and district centers of Vitebsk Oblast, and also stands of international exhibitions: “Innovations and Innovative Products”, “Energy- and Resource Saving and Environment”, “Construction Industry. Innovations in Construction”, “Integration Agro-Industrial Structures”, “Light Industry 2017”. More than 100 exhibitors from across Belarus are expected to gather in Vitebsk Oblast. A trading fair of goods and services will be organized as part of the forum.

The business program will focus on the oblast promising sci-tech projects and innovative development, the possibilities of FEZ Vitebsk. A special emphasis will be placed on the development and implementation of energy-saving and energy-efficient technologies in Vitebsk Oblast, which is the leader in this sector in Belarus. The international conference Energy- and Resource-Saving 2017 will take place as part of the forum. Apart from that, this year’ forum will include a big environmental event, the 14th national ecological forum that will feature a specialized exhibition, themed sections and seminars.

Partaking in this year’s forum will be representatives of 13 countries: Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, France, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Germany, and China. It is expected that nearly 20 agreements on cooperation and partnership will be signed. A special program has been developed for a delegation from China’s Heilongjiang Province. Apart from the forum’s main events, it will include a meeting with the Vitebsk Oblast authorities to discuss bilateral cooperation and a visit to the Vitba confectionary to talk over Belarusian food supplies to China.

The forum is organized by the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee and the Vitebsk City Hall, the oblast committee of natural resources and environmental protection, the oblast department to monitor the rational use of fuel and energy resources, the Vitebsk Oblast marketing center, and the administration of FEZ Vitebsk.
