Serbia to enter third markets jointly with Belarus

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Serbia plans to enter third markets jointly with Belarus, Serbia President Tomislav Nikolic said in an interview to BelTA and the Belarusian Television and Radio Company during his visit to Minsk on 18 May.

“We have open access to the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union. We enjoy absolutely equal cooperation with these markets,” the Serbian leader said. He also noted that “there are no obstacles in advancing there the products jointly produced with Belarus.”

The diplomatic relations between Belarus and Yugoslavia (Serbia became its legal successor in 2006) were established in November 1994. The embassies of the two states were opened in Belgrade and Minsk in 1996.

The Belarusian president visited Serbia four times: in 1998, 1999, 2009, and 2014. Minsk was visited by the Serbian leadership in 1996, 2013, and 2015.

Serbian PM and leader of the Serbian Progressive Party Aleksandar Vucic was elected new President of Serbia on 2 April 2017. Aleksandar Vucic’s inauguration is due to take place on 31 May 2017.
