Scope of Belarus’ Hi-Tech Park to expand onto 3D printing

MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin hosted a session of the Supervisory Board of the Hi-Tech Park on 17 September, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Turchin said: “Today we are holding another session of the Supervisory Board of the Hi-Tech Park. The registration of new Hi-Tech Park residents and the approval of new business projects are on the agenda of the session. Another important topic is the inclusion of new kinds of activities that use 3D printing. We cannot avoid cryptocurrency either. Essentially every session of the Supervisory Board is related to it one way or another.”

Head of the Secretariat of the Supervisory Board of the Hi-Tech Park Anna Ryabova talked in detail about the new kind of business in the Hi-Tech Park. “We truly see prospects because additive technologies mean not only a manufacturing cycle but also software and hardware solutions. This is why we suggest including this kind of business and then stipulating it in legislation without delay,” she noted.

Anna Ryabova added that additive technologies, 3D printers are handy for replacing broken parts and for small-series manufacturing where a small number of products have to be made with great quality. “Software is developed for that. Individual programs are already available. They allow testing brand new complicated devices and launching absolutely new technological processes. This is why it is a very precious tool that is adapted specifically for innovative manufacturing,” she stressed.

An enterprise has already been established together with the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom. “It already employs a large team of over 20 IT professionals. Greater contacts with higher education institutions are necessary because, naturally, it is necessary to integrate these technologies into education so that our engineers could think somewhat differently and could understand with what equipment and technologies they can accomplish new tasks,” Anna Ryabova emphasized.

A number of matters related to improving the development of the sphere of digital signs (tokens) were discussed at the session. First Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Supervisory Board of the Hi-Tech Park Dmitry Kalechits noted in a conversation with journalists that this financial and technological sector develops very dynamically. “All key performance indicators – revenue, export, money turnover, and taxes paid by crypto-residents – have more than doubled compared to the first half of last year,” he said.

The session reviewed a matter related to further improving the interaction of applicants and crypto-residents with audit companies. “Only two audit companies had the opportunity to interact with our applicants and crypto-residents. The list is being expanded to seven companies,” Dmitry Kalechits mentioned.

Tasks that must be in reports submitted every year by crypto-residents to the Secretariat of the HTP Supervisory Board were also clarified. Requirements were additionally introduced to cover matters regarding the compliance of a whole range of business processes with the requirements of legislation and acts of the Supervisory Board.

Apart from that, a number of matters on improving the work of crypto-residents in the field of countering illegal operations and cyber-fraud were considered. Following the adoption of legislative amendments, HTP crypto-residents are expected to be able to interact with the automated incident processing system of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus. Approaches to organizing this process and the way crypto-residents should react to information coming from this system were considered.
