MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian National Union of Consumer Societies Belkoopsoyuz supplies products to 24 regions of the Russian Federation and 11 other countries, Chairwoman of the Belkoopsoyuz Board Inessa Korotkevich said at a press conference to discuss the development of consumer cooperation in Belarus on 9 July, BelTA has learned.

“We identify niches where we can operate efficiently,” Inessa Korotkevich stressed.

The key export markets for consumer cooperative products are the Russian Federation and China. The export portfolio mainly consists of meat products and fur. Belkoopsoyuz participates annually in the Belarusian goods fair in Russia’s Novosibirsk, where its products are in demand.

Speaking about the EU market, the chairwoman described the supply situation as challenging. Previously, Belkoopsoyuz was an active participant in European fur auctions. “Currently, we are under sanctions and cannot take part in these auctions. This is why we are seeking alternative markets,” she said, adding that European consumers are the most affected by sanctions, as they are no longer able to access high-quality Belarusian products.

She emphasized that Belarus has preserved its fur farming industry, despite a sharp decline in export prices. Reforms have been implemented, and the fur market is now recovering.
