RSA eager to set up joint fish processing venture with Santa Bremor

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) - The Republic of South Africa is showing interest in setting up a joint fishing and fish processing enterprise with the Belarusian company Santa Bremor, Belarus’ First Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Marinich told journalists on 23 March after the meeting with a delegation from the Republic of South Africa headed by King Mthimkhulu III of KwaZulu-Natal Province, BelTA has learned.

“We discussed, among other things, the creation of a joint fishing and fish processing enterprise with one of our biggest companies Santa Bremor,” Leonid Marinich said. He noted that the sides agreed that representatives of the Belarusian company will visit the Republic of South Africa to hold talks in the near future.

Besides, Leonid Marinich pointed out that South Africa is interested in setting up a joint venture with Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark). The delegation of the Republic of South Africa will visit the Belarusian plant on 23 March to discuss the issue. “The delegation has also voiced interest in purchasing BelAZ and Amkodor equipment,” Leonid Marinich added.

The Belarusian-German joint venture Santa Bremor is a limited liability company that was registered in the free economic zone Brest in March 1998. The company is a daughter enterprise of the joint venture Santa Impex Brest. The company specializes in processing fish and sea foods, wholesale and retail trade in food. The company makes over 500 kinds of products and supplies the merchandise to the CIS states, Baltic states, to the European market and the American one, to Israel, Lebanon, Georgia, and New Zealand.

The delegation of the Republic of South Africa will stay in Belarus till 25 March. The delegation members are set to hold talks with representatives of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry and the Industry Ministry on a wide range of issues regarding agricultural cooperation (supplies of agricultural products, machines, and equipment to the market of the Republic of South Africa, cooperation in construction of agricultural towns, creation of joint enterprises to process agricultural products, and development of an interagency memorandum of understanding on agricultural cooperation). The delegation will visit a number of Belarusian agricultural and machine-building enterprises.
