MOSCOW, 5 March (BelTA) - Director General of Roscosmos State Corporation Dmitry Bakanov and State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev discussed Belarusian-Russian cooperation in space during a meeting in Moscow, BelTA learned from the press service of Roscosmos.

At the meeting, Dmitry Bakanov said that Roscosmos offers Belarus to consider three new programs and one project of the Union State worth RUB6.33 billion. “For us, cooperation with Belarus is one of the priority areas of international activity. We attach great importance to joint research and technological work within the framework of the Union State programs, R&D, and the integrated Russian-Belarusian space system of Earth remote sensing,” he said.

Cooperation between Roscosmos and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has been successfully developing for many years and yielded significant results, Dmitry Mezentsev noted. “Seven programs of the Union State the tune of RUB8.57 billion have been implemented, the eighth one - Development of basic elements of orbital and ground facilities for multi-satellite constellations of small spacecrafts of Earth remote sensing (Complex-SG) worth RUB1.98 billion is currently under implementation,” he said.

Dmitry Mezentsev recalled that the Supreme State Council and the Council of Ministers of the Union State pay special attention to the practical results of the programs, which are financed from the Union State budget: “An instruction has been given to include tangible results in the Union State property register starting from 2026, thus ensuring their commercialization.”

At present, Belarusian and Russian specialists continue to work on a project to design a remote sensing spacecraft and a space system based on it. In 2024, the first cosmonaut of Belarus, Marina Vasilevskaya, flew to the International Space Station on the Russian Soyuz MS spacecraft.
