Progress in Belarus-EU trade, economic cooperation noted

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Yeudachenka met with Head of the European Union Delegation to Belarus Andrea Wiktorin and a delegation of the European Commission during the second round of the trade dialogue between the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Commission’s Directorate General for Trade on 31 March, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

A large number of matters on the agenda of Belarus’ trade and economic cooperation with the European Union were discussed, including bilateral trade, mutual access to markets, the advancement of investment cooperation with the European Union, Belarus’ accession to the World Trade Organization, and Belarus’ membership in the Eurasian Economic Union and participation in the Eastern Partnership Initiative.

The sides stated that progress had been secured in trade and economic interaction, including the fact that the European Union had waived quotas on importing Belarusian textiles and apparel.
