Presidents of Belarus, Russia agree to restore transport communication

Presidents of Belarus, Russia agree to restore transport communication

SOCHI, 15 September (BelTA-TASS) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will instruct the corresponding agencies to prepare proposals to resume transport communication between the two countries, Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov told the media after the talks between the two leaders on 14 September.

“The two presidents agreed to instruct the heads of the corresponding agencies to prepare proposals to remove restrictions in transportation, i.e. to resume transport communication between Russia and Belarus,” the representative of the Kremlin said.

In his words, “the heads of the agencies will start talks on the matter in the near future.”

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Russia had to close regular and charter international air service on 27 March, except for special outcoming flights. On 30 March the Russian government ordered to restrict travel via automobile, rail, pedestrian and other checkpoints on its border, including with Belarus.
