Plans to make UAVs, lasers in China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – There are plans to start manufacturing unmanned aerial vehicles and lasers in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, BelTA learned from Alexander Yaroshenko, Head of the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone Administration, as a delegation of the Chinese parliament led by Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang visited the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone on 17 April.

The official said: “There are only eight resident companies in our industrial park for now. We intend to double or even triple the number. We and our Chinese partners even have this formula — 20-10-5. The number of resident companies is supposed to reach 20 by the end of the year. Ten of them are expected to start building their facilities in the park. Five companies are expected to start manufacturing by then.”

Alexander Yaroshenko remarked that there are plans to sign a residency agreement with the Austrian company Kronospan, another project of which will be implemented in the industrial park. “Negotiations are also underway with an American company that makes laser equipment. Both companies intend to invest about $30 million in the park. Apart from that, these companies intend to buy the land plots inside the park while the other ones are content with renting the lands for now,” said the head of the industrial park administration.

Alexander Yaroshenko also spoke about the Chinese companies, which are supposed to become residents of the industrial park. “There are plans to make unmanned aerial vehicles here. Vigorous talks are in progress with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus because their R&D products met a strong interest on the part of our Chinese partners. A company that makes diesel aggregates closely cooperates with Minsk Motor Plant. Joint projects can be beneficial for the development of our enterprises,” he stressed.
