Plans to launch production of COVID-19 drug capsules at Great Stone Park

MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) - The Minsk Oblast Executive Committee and the Jintai Institute of Culture and Economics have signed a memorandum of cooperation to open a Eurasian exchange center for the culture of traditional medicine and a plant to produce COVID-19 drug capsules in the Great Stone Industrial Park, BelTA has learned.

The document was signed by Minsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Turchin and Director of the Jintai Institute of Culture and Economics Cai Chuanqing. The memorandum provides for the study of medicine in both countries and its development. The Chinese side plans to set up a Eurasian exchange center for the culture of traditional medicine in the Great Stone Industrial Park. It will promote interaction between Chinese medicine, local traditional medicine and medicine using natural plants. Its tasks will also include establishing cooperation with research institutions and healthcare facilities of Belarus and neighboring countries.

There are plans, together with Xishanqingxue Pharmaceutical Technology Company (Beijing), to build a plant in the Great Stone Park to make COVID-19 drug capsules consisting of medicinal herbs. The first stage of the project will include the construction of a capsule packing facility in the bonded area. Ready products from China will be packed here. After that the products will be sold to the neighboring countries and regions, such as Ukraine, Russia, the European Union. As part of the second stage the parties plan to build a workshop for medicinal herb purification to use local raw materials, which are chaga mushroom and dandelion. The third stage is the launch of full-scale production and sales of a wide range of preparations of Chinese traditional medicine.

According to Minsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Turchin, China has long been a strategic partner for the country and Minsk Oblast. “The region is home to the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone, which imposes additional responsibility on us for interaction with this country. Today we have discussed the development of a special center that will deal with traditional medicine issues. The country will grow the herbs that in demand on the Chinese market. We will also produce a Chinese drug for the coronavirus,” said Aleksandr Turchin.

Jintai Institute of Culture and Economies is a social service agency established by a decision of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China. Its goal is to ensure the continuity and development of Chinese traditional culture. The institute aims to deepen exchange and cooperation between Chinese and foreign cultures, especially in the field of medicine.
