Over 41,000 electric vehicles registered in Belarus

MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) - More than 41,000 electric vehicles have been registered in Belarus, Yuri Grigorenko, chief business development specialist at the Malanka division of Belorusneft said during the 7th scientific and practical conference “Electric Transport: Reality and Prospects” held as part of the Belarusian Energy and Environment Forum, BelTA has learned

“As of 1 October 2025, there were more than 41,000 registered electric vehicles in Belarus. In 2025 alone, growth is projected to be at 25,000 units. This is a significant figure: about a quarter of the total automobile market in the country and slightly above the global average. This trend is driven by countries such as China, where electric vehicle sales account for more than 56%,” Yuri Grigorenko noted.

According to him, Belarus continues to pay significant attention to the development of electric transport. The country has adopted a plan to reach 300,000 electric vehicles within five years. “That would represent 10% of the traffic, with electricity consumption by electric vehicles potentially increasing by about 1.5 billion kWh by 2030,” he emphasized.

A key factor in achieving these targets, Yuri Grigorenko said, is reducing the cost of electric vehicles. “An increasing number of private and state‑owned companies are opting for electric transport for their operations. In the Malanka charging network, about 35% of services are being provided to legal entities,” he added. “Among the measures that will allow us to reach 300,000 units by 2030 are maintaining all current incentives and ensuring corresponding growth in investment in charging infrastructure. Under the state program to develop the national charging network, we plan to increase installed capacity sevenfold: from 42 MW to 310 MW by the end of 2030.”
