No oil and gas disputes between Belarus, Russia

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – There are no oil and gas disputes between Russia and Belarus, Russia’ Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov told a press conference in Minsk on 7 February, BelTA has learned.

“All our oil and gas disputes have been finally resolved. We have achieved consensus and adopted the relevant document. We have lifted all the disagreements. Today, there are no obstacles for gas supplies to Belarus at the agreed price. There are no disputes in oil supplies either,” the ambassador said.

In his words, the EAEU member states have now launched the next stage, which is the negotiations on the development of the common electricity market in 2019, and the common oil and gas market, which is to go operational in 2025. “We cannot say that the negotiations are proceeding successfully and quickly, but we still have time to arrive at mutual understanding,” Alexander Surikov stated.

The diplomat also sees no tension around the work of the supervisory agencies, especially in the area of food quality.

The Belarus-Russia trade increased in general in 2017. “The growth made up about 24%, which means the growth of jobs. The commodity circulation figures are the key economic indices,” the ambassador added.
