New factory of Belarusian-Chinese venture BelGee to make first batch of cars on 25-26 June

New factory of Belarusian-Chinese venture BelGee to make first batch of cars on 25-26 JuneDZERZHINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – There are plans to make the first batch of cars at the BelGee factory, which is under construction now, on 25-26 June. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko made the relevant statement during a solemn presentation of the agricultural machines holding company Amkodor-Semash on 13 June, BelTA has learned.

When asked when the new BelGee factory is likely to produce the first industrial batch of cars, Vladimir Semashko said that five to ten cars will be manufactured on 25-26 June.

Vladimir Semashko went on saying that all the construction and installation work at the factory had been done, with 99.5% of the equipment tuned and ready to work. “Only a couple of units of equipment still have to be tuned. Software has been tuned as well. This is why we would like a small number of cars to go through the entire manufacturing cycle first. Later on in line with the contract we have to make an inspection lot by assembling 222 cars within 72 hours. It will be done in mid-August,” said the deputy prime minister. Vladimir Semashko specified that it is likely to happen on 15-20 August.

If sales go well, the factory has the potential to make 120,000 cars per annum, Vladimir Semashko was quoted as saying earlier. For now BelGee uses premises rented from the Borisov-based automobile components manufacturer Avtogydrousilitel to make the Geely Emgrand X7 crossover, the Geely SC7 sedan, and the Geely LC Cross hatchback.
