MTZ opening assembly plant for Belarusian tractors in Georgia’s Batumi

TBILISI, 22 March (BelTA) – An assembly plant for Belarusian tractors is opening in the Georgian city of Batumi, Fyodor Domotenko, director general of the Belarusian tractor manufacturer MTZ, told the media on 22 March, BelTA has learned.

In his words, 2018-2020 will be the most successful years for MTZ on Georgia’s market. “We are opening an assembly plant in Batumi. We have sealed a deal for 50 kits. If this assembly plant becomes operational, it will roll out at least from 200 to 300 tractors a year,” Fyodor Domotenko said.

Georgia has a demand for various tractors, from light-duty to power-packed ones. Although MTZ may start manufacturing these vehicles in Georgia in the coming years, for the time being the company only intends to assemble them and supply finished vehicles.

MTZ also reached an agreement with Georgian partners to develop special models. Fyodor Domotenko, however, did not reveal the details to keep the trade secret confidential. “We will disclose them only in autumn because our country is also interested in these models,” he noted.
