MTZ may join U.S. Association of Equipment Manufacturers

MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – MTZ is considering the accession to the United States Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), BelTA learned from the press service of Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark).

"An MTZ delegation led by Director General of MTZ Holding Company Fyodor Domotenko was in the United States on a working visit. During the visit the delegation held a series of negotiations, including with the AEM. The parties discussed the possibilities of joining the international association which unites more than 900 largest manufacturers of construction, agricultural, municipal, mining, and forest equipment,” the press service said.

The AEM unites American companies and world-renowned manufacturers from other countries, including John Deere, Volvo, Siemens, and Caterpillar. "The AEM noted that the membership will give MTZ Holding Company an opportunity to defend its interests in ensuring fair equitable access to the American market for Belarusian tractors," the press service said.

The issues of increasing the supply of automotive equipment to the North American market, legal support in the United States were on the agenda of the visit. Negotiations were held with the heads of MTZ Equipment, the representative office of MTZ Holding Company in the United States and Canada, the existing and potential dealers of Belarusian tractors, Nationwide Finance financial company, law firms, and also the Ambassadors of Lithuania and Serbia to the United States.

The head of Minsk Tractor Works got familiar with the terms of supply of spare parts and after-sales service of Belarusian equipment, talked to farmers who use MTZ tractors. "In general, the American side expressed satisfaction with the quality of our tractors. For example, a Texan farmer demonstrated the Belarus tractor which he purchased 23 years ago and which he still uses. The farmer said he intends to buy a new tractor Belarus,” the press service informed.

The dealers also reported on successful tests of a MTZ-1523 tractor which is designed for work on livestock farms, and said will soon begin testing more powerful models, the press service said.

Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) was founded in 1946. It is part of the system of enterprises run by the Belarusian Industry Ministry. The company offers over 60 models and modifications of tractors and vehicles with over 100 options for all kinds of climatic and operational conditions. For the last few years MTZ has kept an 8-10% share of the global market of wheeled tractors. MTZ operates in over 60 countries and has assembly enterprises in Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, China, Romania, Egypt, Serbia, Algeria, Venezuela, and other countries. The industrial group MTZ comprises 11 enterprises.
