More representatives of foreign businesses visit Belarus

MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – Considerably more foreign businessmen visit Belarus and the number of foreign events arranged for representatives of foreign business communities has increased as well, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich before the seminar held on 9 July to discuss cooperation between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Belarus’ diplomatic institutions abroad.

Vladimir Ulakhovich stated: “The number of our offsite events and those relating to the reception of foreign businessmen has increased considerably. It is not surprising because the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry tightly cooperates with our governments and we have to do the tasks we have been assigned — diversification, new markets, the enabling of new opportunities for Belarusian products.”

Now the bulk of the efforts are aimed at finding new target markets to sell Belarus-made goods. “Those are the countries where Belarusian products are not yet represented. The markets are complicated ones, the competition situation on the global market is complicated as well. But if we don’t try to move onto these markets, nothing good will be accomplished,” believes the official.

In his words, work is in progress on the African continent, visits to North Africa countries have taken place, trips to Central Africa are being prepared. Latin America is another important direction. “We have bolstered out platform in Venezuela. We are opening new markets — Ecuador, Nicaragua. There are serious infrastructure projects over there. They could use not only Belarusian vehicles and equipment but Belarusian technologies and specialists. These are long-term strategic projects,” stated Vladimir Ulakhovich.
