Minsk Oblast, China’s Chongqing municipality sign export agreements worth over $3m

MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) – Export agreements worth over $3 million have been signed by Minsk Oblast and the Chinese municipality of Chongqing, the press service of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee told BelTA.
A delegation of Belarus’ central region led by Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Aleksei Kushnarenko is taking part in an international sister cities conference held in Chongqing, China.
During his visit to one of China’s largest cities the head of the central region visited HKC Corporation Limited, a global leader in the manufacturing of display panels and high-tech electronics. The company has come a long way from its foundation in 2001 and its first international partnerships to reaching the global level in the 2010s when its products began competing with leading brands in Asia, Europe, and America.
The negotiations between Aleksei Kushnarenko and the HKC management focused on the prospects of technological cooperation, investment interaction, and the company’s possible participation in projects in Minsk Oblast. High-tech manufacturing, the digital industry, and new formats of industrial partnership were in the spotlight.
Special attention during the visit was paid to the company’s production base in Chongqing. In 2015, a subsidiary called Chongqing HKC Jinyu Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. was established here, and today it is one of the corporation’s key production sites.
As Aleksei Kushnarenko noted, over the past 5 years Minsk Oblast and the People’s Republic of China have doubled their trade turnover, reaching the $4 billion mark. A new gain of another 33% has been recorded this year. A detailed plan for strategic cooperation until 2028 has been signed between Minsk Oblast and the Chongqing megacity. Apart from that, heads of the Belarusian enterprises in the delegation signed export agreements worth over $3 million. Meat and dairy products and peat products from Minsk Oblast will be exported to China.
