Lukashenko concerned over corn harvest timing

ZHIROVICHI, 19 September (BelTA)  - During a working trip to Grodno Oblast, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko recounted how he "interrogated" the agriculture and food minister regarding the state of affairs in the cornfields, BelTA learned.

"No analysis has been done on the corn to determine which fields will be used for grain and which will be harvested for silage. I am concerned that the corn for grain may not mature in time. Then we will miss the window to harvest it for silage. If we fail to harvest it for silage, the corn will become over-dried, and we will get no grain from it,” the head of state said.

He noted that he had discussed this topic with the agriculture and food minister the day before: "I ‘interrogated’ him yesterday: 'Explain to me where, what, and how. Will the corn mature or not?' The philosophical generalities began.”

"Therefore, look into it," the president instructed.
