MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – We need to diversify Belarusian food exports more actively, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he made personnel decisions on 22 May, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that there are currently difficulties in selling butter abroad, as there is oversupply. "Everything sells well except butter. Butter is made from milk. So we should make powdered milk instead, as they do in Volkovysk [at the Bellakt enterprise]. It has a good price. We can send it to Africa or use it to produce baby food," the president suggested.

"Preserved food products can also be exported to distant markets. We must continue to move forward and never stop in this regard. This is very important: economy comes first," the Belarusian leader emphasized. "A year ago, I warned you that we would face problems in our main market, Russia. These challenges are already emerging, but fortunately, China is increasing imports of our food products. But when it comes to industrial goods, China won't buy from us as they produce everything themselves. At the same time, competition in the Russian market is fierce. The situation is not easy. This is why we must work harder."
