ZHIROVICHI, 19 September (BelTA) – During a working trip to Grodno Oblast on 19 September Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko reiterated the task of preserving the harvest of vegetables and fruits in marketable condition so they could be sold during the off-season, BelTA has learned.

First of all, the head of state asked Grodno Oblast Governor Yuri Karayev about the situation with the potato harvest in the region.

“Less than in other years, but we are covering our own needs,” said Yuri Karayev.

He also assured that there are additional volumes for supplies, for example, to Minsk: “We are providing for Minsk as well. 90% of the contracts have already been signed; it has been determined who will store and who will purchase.”

“Make sure we don’t have any problems with vegetables and potatoes,” Aleksandr Lukashenko warned.

In this regard, the governor reported that Grodno Oblast is also ready to share its apple harvest. “If you have an extra apple, share it,” the president said in response. “Take a national approach to the matter, not just a regional one.”

“The main thing is that all your storage facilities are cleared out and prepared for storing vegetables, fruits, and potatoes. Everything must be done with military precision,” the Belarusian leader said.
