Joint companies can help raise trade between Belarus, Bryansk Oblast

GOMEL, 31 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia's Bryansk Oblast will be able to raise mutual trade through setting up joint companies in the road-building sector, Bryansk Oblast Vice Governor Mikhail Kobozev told media on 31 March. He led the Russian delegation to Gomel to take part in the events timed to Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.

According to Mikhail Kobozev, the trade between Bryansk Oblast and Belarus should have exceeded $1 billion in 2015. However, due to objective reasons the figure was not reached. “The parties have already worked out a number of measures to continue joint work on increasing the bilateral trade. Among them is the intensification of cooperation between agro-industrial companies and the setting up of joint companies in the road-building sector,” he said.

The Bryansk Oblast Vice Governor stressed that Belarus and its border areas in particular remain the main strategic partners for Bryansk Oblast in social and economic development. The bilateral relations cover almost every sphere of life, including education, science, culture and tourism.

In 2015 the trade between Gomel Oblast and the Russian Federation almost reached $5 billion. The majority of Belarus’ exports go to Bryansk Oblast, Moscow Oblast and Moscow. Actively cooperating with Russia is Belarusian Steel Works, Gomselmash, Rogachev Milk Canning Plant and Milkavita.

The solemn meeting including a concert was held at the Gomel Oblast Drama Theater to mark Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia. Attending the event were the Gomel authorities, the delegation from Bryansk Oblast, representatives of labor collectives, intellectuals, students, war and labor veterans.
