“We welcomed the removal of sanctions against Belarus and we are sure that now our relations will only be growing stronger in all areas,” Luca Tommasi said. He noted that the Italian side sees Belarus as a partner.

“We also believe that Belarus might become a starting or a reference point for those companies that want to export to the countries of the Euro-Asian region in the future,” he said.

He drew attention to the fact that the relations between Italy and Belarus have been developing for a long time. Many Italian families have hosted Belarusian children who were in Italy on recuperation trips. “We are always happy to see the interest of Belarusians in Italian culture, art, fashion, and see the Belarusian market as promising for us, particularly at this time,” Luca Tommasi said.

Luca Tommasi noted that Italy’s Drillmec S.p.A. became the major shareholder (51%) of OAO Seismotekhnika in 2013. The company employs over 500 Belarusian workers. The company produces equipment for civil and oil refining industry, drilling machinery. The products are mainly exported to Russia (Siberia). Supplies have also been launched to North Africa. “We are in permanent search for new partners and joint projects. Since the world economic crisis has affected all the countries, we are seeking new ways of cooperation and solutions in order to optimize our commodity-production chain,” the managing director said.

Drillmec came to the market of oil and gas equipment in 1929. The company’s equipment is used in more than 70 countries.
