International business forum Brest 2016 to bring together potential partners

BREST, 16 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian city of Brest will play host to the first international business forum Brest 2016 on 21 to 22 April, BelTA learned from the main department for ideology, culture, and youth affairs at the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.

The forum is timed to coincide with International Sister Cities Day, traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday of April, and is aimed at advancing international and interregional cooperation. The organizers view the event as a new business brand of the region. The forum is expected to become a platform for presenting Brest Oblast’s investment potential and promoting a dialogue between potential business partners. Special attention will be paid to the creation of a favorable environment for attracting private investments in manufacturing sector, infrastructure, tourism, including on the basis of public-private partnership.

“We hope that the business forum will be attended by a considerable number of foreign exhibitors and believe that it will give rise to many initiatives in different sectors. We invite Belarusian and foreign businessmen interested in any forms of cooperation to take part in the event. We also encourage the Belarusian companies that have plans to participate in the forum to prepare good investment proposals and refrain from a formalist approach that will bring no positive result,” said head of the foreign economic activity department at the Brest Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yelena Pivnik. She added that the website www.forum-brest.by, that will become a working tool of the forum, is currently under development.

The program of the business forum features discussions, meetings, and exhibitions. For example, there will be a plenary meeting, two themed sections, and a business matchmaking session. Potential partners will be invited to visit industry-specific enterprises. The expo will showcase Belarusian products, goods and services in different sectors, including machine building and manufacturing equipment, agriculture, food processing, light and chemical industries, building materials, transportation and logistics, and information technologies and telecommunications.

Due to the business forum Brest 2016, this year’s edition of the annual fair Brest. Commonwealth, which was traditionally held in late April, will take place on 26 to 28 October.

The event is organized by the Brest Oblast Executive Committee and the Brest Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
