MOSCOW, 2 February (BelTA) – Cooperation between the companies of Belarus and Russia will help overcome recession in trade between the two countries, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko said in an interview to the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio on 2 February, BelTA informs.
“It is vital for us to develop joint cooperation projects, joint research. It is easier to withstand together,” the Ambassador believes. In his words, it is necessary to involve in cooperation chains all the companies that produce goods that are popular in both the countries.
The diplomat stressed that objective factors related to the global financial crisis are behind the decline in the bilateral trade. The global economic meltdown has affected both the Russian and Belarusian economies. At the same time the Ambassador acknowledged that sluggishness of some civil servants and company managers has added to the problem.
Igor Petrishenko stated that in 2015 the Belarusian-Russian trade fell to $27.5 billion. In 2012 it was up to $45 billion.
