Gomselmash, DVR Infratech to set up joint venture in India

GOMEL, 14 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian agricultural machines manufacturer Gomselmash and DVR Infratech Private Limited will establish a joint venture to assemble grain harvesters in the Indian state of Rajasthan, BelTA learned from Yuri Rafeyev, the head of the department for sales to non-CIS countries.

To implement the project, Gomselmash and DVR Infratech signed a memorandum of association in India. The next step will be to register the joint Belarusian-Indian enterprise Gomselmash-India. “We have been considering ways to enter the Indian market for several years. Our study of the demand for machinery among local farmers revealed that low-capacity harvesters that can be used for small fields are the most appropriate option for this market,” Yuri Rafeyev said.

The inexpensive low-capacity grain harvester KZS-575, marketed as Palesse GS575, which is one of the company’s latest products, is a perfect suit for Indian farmers. “This summer, we will ship the first KZS-575 harvester to India for trial purposes and further certification,” Yuri Rafeyev noted.

The business plan drafted by the parties indicates that the joint enterprise will roll out its first products in 2018. Specialists estimate India’s annual demand for such harvesters at 4,000 units. This means that the Belarusian-Indian joint venture has good development prospects.

The Belarusian holding company Gomselmash was originally established as the Gomselmash factory in 1930. Gomselmash is one of the largest manufacturers of agricultural machines in the world. The company produces nine types of agricultural vehicles, 23 basic models and 26 modifications. Gomselmash exports to Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, the Baltic countries, Argentina, Brazil, Iran, China, South Korea, and other countries. The company has a wide product distribution network.
