FEZ Minsk, Iran’s special economic zones to boost cooperation

MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – The free economic zone Minsk (FEZ Minsk) and Iran’s special economic zones intend to enhance cooperation, BelTA learned from the FEZ Minsk Administration.

Head of the FEZ Minsk Administration Anatoly Kalinin met with a delegation of the High Council of Iran’s Free Trade and Special Economic Zones on 19 August. The Iranian side had suggested holding this meeting ahead of the official visit to Belarus by the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.

According to the press service, the High Council of Iran’s Free Trade and Special Economic Zones is a state-run coordination body established in 2017 by a decision of the Iranian Cabinet of Ministers. Its primary task is the management, development, and coordination of activities of free trade and special economic zones.

“At today’s meeting, the parties exchanged their expertise and knowledge in running free economic zones and discussed promising areas of cooperation. Members of the Iranian delegation were told about the opportunities and advantages for investors offered by the FEZ Minsk, including tax incentives, easy registration, and business support. A decision was made to sign a cooperation agreement between the FEZ Minsk Administration and Iran’s special economic zones, which will facilitate the establishment of fruitful bilateral contacts in the interests of Belarusian and Iranian businesses,” the press service reported.

The Iranian delegation visited the production site of the FEZ Minsk resident company, Nero Electronics, which specializes in the development and production of innovative systems for intelligent metering and management.

The Iranian partners invited their Belarusian counterparts to explore the opportunities within their own free trade and special economic zones.
