Erdogan: Economies of Belarus and Turkey are complementary

MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkey have complementary economies, Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the opening of the Belarusian-Turkish business forum in Minsk on 11 November.

“Our advantage is that our economies are complementary rather than competitive. It is important for Turkey to supply high-quality products to Belarus,” the Turkish leader noted.

Belarus and Turkey have jointly implemented about 50 projects worth $1.2 billion. The Turkish head of state stressed that the two countries need to strengthen the legal framework so that businessmen could work even more effectively.

The heads of the two countries signed a communique to expand and strengthen bilateral ties on 11 November.

“We expect that the Belarusian firms will invest in Turkey,” Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. He also considers it necessary to develop cooperation between Belarusian and Turkish enterprises to advance joint products to the markets of third countries.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed confidence that the political will will facilitate the work of Belarusian and Turkish businessmen.
