Delivery of new batch of Belarusian tractors, harvesters to Georgia under discussion

TBILISI, 21 March (BelTA) – The shipment of a new batch of Belarusian tractors and grain harvesters, trailed equipment to Georgia is being discussed, BelTA learned from Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Rusy.

The official said: “We are preparing 25-30 grain harvesters for a prompt shipment to Georgia. Fifty tractors will be shipped for assembly purposes. A contract will be signed. We have agreed that representatives of Georgia will visit [the Belarusian agricultural machinery engineering company] Gomselmash and see the entire product range — not only vehicles but also aftersales service, the establishment of service centers.”

In his words, the establishment of a center to provide pedigree work and selection services for animal husbandry industry and potato farming is another avenue of cooperation. The Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus (DBRB) will offer a range of instruments for the development of a number of concrete avenues of cooperation.

The sides are also busy discussing logistics, working on ways to deliver goods via Ukraine and then by sea. It is possible that river-sea type vessels may be used to deliver Belarusian goods to Georgian sea ports in the future. Prospects of advancing cooperation in tourism and culture have also been discussed.

First Deputy Prime Minister, Economy and Sustainable Development Minister of Georgia Dimitry Kumsishvili stressed that the sides very actively cooperate across the board and working groups had been established. “We look forward to the visit of the Belarus president. We see results of previous meetings at the top level, after which our relations were invigorated,” he said.

Speaking about the delivery of machines, vehicles, and equipment, Dimitry Kumsishvili noted that Georgia needs new harvesters. Representatives of the Georgian side and Belarusian colleagues will take a closer look at the matter of shipments and the necessary specifications.
