MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – Aleksandr Chervyakov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the People’s Republic of China, held a meeting in Beijing with a delegation from the city of Jiamusi in Heilongjiang Province, led by Vice Mayor Qiu Wenhui, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in China.
The delegation included directors of leading enterprises in pharmaceuticals, construction materials, and mechanical engineering. The parties exchanged views on deepening interregional cooperation.
The discussion also covered trade, economic, and investment cooperation. The focus was on topics related to scientific, technological, and humanitarian contacts between Belarus and China.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China were established in 1992. In September 2022, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization events, the leaders of Belarus and China adopted a joint declaration on establishing the highest level of relations in history - an all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership.
In March 2023, during the state visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to China, the leaders of the two countries adopted a joint statement on the fundamental principles for developing model relations of an all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership between Belarus and China in the new era. The development of relations with the People’s Republic of China is a strategic direction of the foreign policy of the Republic of Belarus.
