CEI countries named among Belarus’ major trading partners

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – The CEI member states account for a big share of Belarus’ foreign trade and economic cooperation, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich noted during the session of the CEI Parliamentary Committee in Minsk on 30 May, BelTA has learned.

The spokesman stressed that in 2016 the CEI member states accounted for 15.5% of Belarus’ foreign trade and 19.3% of Belarus’ export.

According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, Belarus and the CEI countries have set up 1,013 organizations. “However, in recent years a number of states have not been putting enough effort to augment the authorized capital of these organizations,” Mikhail Myasnikovich highlighted.

Belarus’ major investment partners in the CEI region are Austria, Poland, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic. In 2016 Belarus raised over $800 million in foreign investment from 17 CEI member states (about 10% of total foreign investment), including $635 million in FDI.
