Brest Oblast, Kyrgyzstan regions mutually interested in joint ventures

BREST, 18 March (BelTA) – Brest Oblast and regions of Kyrgyzstan are mutually interested in establishing joint ventures in food processing industry. The relevant matters were discussed during the meeting of Brest Oblast Governor Anatoly Lis and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Belarus Kubanychbek Оmuraliev on 18 March, BelTA has learned.

Anatoly Lis said he was confident that the visit of the Ambassador will open up new avenues for advancing relations between regions of the two countries. Cooperation in agriculture looks most promising. In particular, the possibility of setting up joint processing enterprises was discussed during the meeting.

“The distance between our countries is great. It is possible to set up joint milk-processing ventures right here and secure mutually beneficial accomplishments. We could start with the construction of dairy farms. Later on we could organize processing and start selling ready-made products to the regions. After this meeting we are going to talk to manufacturers,” noted the Ambassador.

Brest Oblast civil engineering enterprises are interested in cooperation and have a lot of experience building dairy farms. “In particular, the industrial group Brestoblselstroy has a long track record of designing and building agricultural facilities. The company now has a branch in Kazakhstan. Its services could come in handy in Kyrgyzstan, too,” said the Brest Oblast Governor.

In 2015 trade between Brest Oblast and Kyrgyzstan totaled $4 million, with the oblast’s export representing 100% of the trade volume. Brest Oblast companies exported food, furniture, industrial equipment, and construction materials.
