HAIKOU, 6 January (BelTA - Xinhua) – The Chinese province of Hainan has shipped fresh coconuts to Belarus for the first time, BelTA has learned.
Recently, 19.5 tonnes of fresh coconuts grown in Haikou, the administrative center of southern Hainan Province, were sent by road transport to Belarus via the Alashankou checkpoint in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
This marks the first shipment of fresh coconuts from Hainan Island to Belarus, highlighting the expansion of agricultural trade between Hainan and countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
The operation is being carried out by Hainan’s international trading company Liangyue, which last year also began supplying passion fruit to Belarus. The company has announced its readiness to export more tropical fruits and continue developing its presence in international markets.
To ensure smooth entry of fresh coconuts into the target market, the local customs service provided tailored support by streamlining inspection procedures and reducing clearance times. In the future, customs authorities will continue efforts to simplify inspection processes and facilitate the export of more high-quality tropical agricultural products from Hainan to global markets.
