Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange adds jam to regular trading

Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange adds jam to regular trading

MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) – Jam has been added to regular commodity exchange trading in Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE).

For the first time, Belarusian-made berry jam was sold during BUCE exchange sessions for food raw materials, groceries and fruit and vegetable products. The buyer was one of the leading companies in Belarus’ confectionery industry, while the seller was a major Belarusian producer of food ingredients.

Since the beginning of 2026, nearly 2,600 deals have been concluded in this commodity category for the purchase of more than 250 types of raw materials and ingredients for the food industry. According to BUCE, the product range and the number of participants continue to expand.

“In 2026, the largest buyers of food raw materials, groceries and fruit and vegetable products on the exchange platform are confectionery factories, meat processing plants and dairy companies. High demand is seen for complex food additives, starter cultures, gelatin, flavorings, cocoa powder, dried fruit, nuts, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. Currently, the pool of participants regularly purchasing such products includes more than 80 companies, compared with about 60 a year ago. New categories are often introduced at the initiative of exchange clients based on their purchase requests. The inclusion of jam in the list of exchange commodities is exactly such a case,” the BUCE press service said.

According to BUCE, in the first half of 2026, the value of exchange transactions in the food raw materials, groceries and fruit and vegetable products segment reached Br69.8 million, up 53% compared with the same period of 2025. Exchange trading in this category is held twice a week, and a separate trading session with product samples is also organized.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
