MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – Belneftekhim expects Belarusian oil refineries to process about 18 million tonnes of oil in 2021. Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim Vladimir Sizov made the statement before the session of the Council of Ministers’ Presidium held on 1 December to discuss the implementation and updating of the strategy designed to guide the development of the Belarusian petrochemical industry till 2030, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Sizov said: “Negotiations on next year’s deliveries are in progress. As the baseline variant we consider the volume we intended to process this year. I am talking about 18 million tonnes of oil.”

Speaking about possible changes in fuel prices, the official explained that the petrochemical industry development strategy is not meant to address these matters. “The domestic market is very important for us. We are intent on satisfying its demand for oil products in full. Prices will be determined depending on the state of foreign markets of raw materials among other things. The exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble to the currency we pay to buy raw materials will also be a factor,” Vladimir Sizov said.
