MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) - In 2024 the sale of polymers and polymer products at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange for the domestic needs amounted to Br185 million, which was 1.4 times more than a year earlier, the BUCE press service told BelTA.

Various types of polymer films, collagen and polyamide casings, plastic containers and performs and also polyethylene bags and disposable plastic tableware were the most demanded items among Belarusian enterprises. The BUCE press service informed that the sale growth came on the back of increased physical volumes of purchases and also the growing circle of regular sellers and buyers of polymer products.

“The number of regular participants of exchange trading in polymers rose significantly compared to 2023. In particular, the number of buyers increased by 27%, and now 228 companies from various industries, including meat and dairy, construction and pharmaceuticals, regularly conclude transactions at the exchange. The number of sellers rose from 116 in 2023 to 157 in 2024. In addition, non-residents increased their presence on the exchange. Last year, the share of imports in the structure of transactions with polymer products reached 2%, or Br4.5 million,” the BUCE press service informed.

BUCE also noted that one of the reasons for the dynamic development of exchange trading in polymers in 2024 was the option to pre-select suppliers based on product samples. Thanks to this novelty, large domestic buyers came to the exchange, and the exchange trading as a procurement tool became more attractive.

Trading sessions to sell polymer products and industrial chemicals are held at BUTB three times a week - twice in the usual format and once with the provision of samples.
